Research shows that children with good social skills make friends easier, do better at school and are more resilient to life’s blows.

Grace Academy was founded to instruct children, particularly teen girls, in the social graces necessary to make them happy and successful in their daily activities.  Its founders, Karen McIlveen and Madeene Brooks, feel passionately that children need to be taught social skills for future success.  “When children know what to say and how to act in any situation, it eases their anxiety and allows them to act confidently.” Karen McIlveen said.

By giving girls the skills they need to feel comfortable, at ease and unselfconscious in social situations, parents are providing their daughters with an advantage that will last a lifetime. They will be able to face many high pressure situations such as job interviews, dates and college effortlessly with seamless manners and confidence.

The Building Social Confidence in Teen Girls program is specifically designed to meet their needs, covering such things as etiquette, image, deportment and communication.  It is highly interactive and fun, with an emphasis on character development and positive self-esteem. After attending the course, Toralee, 14, said that she learned a lot of important life skills.  “I think any teenager in 21st century life will really enjoy it and it will be of great use to them.”

The cost of a 6 week program, commencing in July, will be $475. There are still places available for the school holiday workshops, at $350.  These programs include a five course fine dining experience and high tea at the Sebel Hotel.  However, class sizes are kept small so if you are interested in enrolling your daughter, you will need to book quickly.  Ring Karen on 0428162281  or email karenedgerley2002@yahoo.com.au.
